As the veterans of the British 2nd Division who had fought at the battle of Kohima planned their final reunion in 2004, they resolved to found the Kohima Educational Trust (KET) as a debt of honour to the Naga people. The trust was seen by its founders both as a means of sustaining the memory of the courage and sacrifice of those who fought and died in the battle and now, the succeeding generations continue to uphold that debt of honour to the Nagas who were their allies in the war through assisting the education of succeeding generations of Naga children.

Support for the trust began from the veterans of the battle themselves but has now extended widely to their families and descendants including many other individuals and organisations who have heard our story.
